About Neurobiological Architects
Neurobiological Architects is an educational initiative created to help adults understand behaviour through the brain, development, relationships and everyday experience.
We believe that behaviour is not random or isolated. It is shaped by the interaction of neurobiology, development, experience, relationships and environment. Understanding should come before deciding how to respond.
Our purpose is to translate evidence-informed neuroscience into practical, accessible knowledge that can help adults better understand and support children.
Who It Is For
Parents and carers are at the heart of this work.
The material may also be useful for teachers, Special Needs Assistants (SNAs), school leaders, healthcare and allied health professionals, university students, and anyone interested in understanding behaviour.

Founder
Mark Smyth is the founder of Neurobiological Architects and a Behaviour Specialist.
He holds a degree in Rehabilitation Therapy, with a focus on the biological basis of behaviour, and a Master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Development, with a focus on evolutionary, developmental and social psychology.
He has more than 25 years of experience across disability services, residential care, mainstream and special education, and youth justice.
His interests include the neurobiology of behaviour, neurodiversity, child development, regulation, relationships and the effects of early experience.
